About Vitruvian Farms: We are a Certified Organic vegetable and mushroom farm just outside of Madison. Our produce is available at our farm store, through our online store with home delivery options, through our CSA program, as well as at area grocery stores and restaurants.  We are aiming to make a positive impact on the world by supplying our community with environmentally-conscious grown food.

About Our Team: Farming is extremely hard work which is why our team is made up of dedicated individuals who love growing food and, when needed, grinding through long days in all weather conditions. We are looking for motivated individuals with or without previous farm experience to join this team. Interested applicants should have good attention to detail, the ability to do physical work efficiently, and learn quickly while also being willing to ask for questions and help.

  • While we have staff working on the farm year round, we do a majority of our hiring starting in spring for seasonal positions.

    Open seasonal positions will be posted starting in February.

    While we do, on occasion, hire minors please keep in mind that crew member responsibilities are extremely physically demanding. These are entry level positions but do require a high level of attention to detail and physical exertion.

  • Hourly rates are dependent on position and experience level. Rate is a combination of hourly rate, tips and season completion bonus.

    Full time positions (40 hours per week) receive a full CSA share (box of produce weekly until the end of September).

    Part time positions (range of 16-32 hours per week) receive a half CSA share (box of produce every other week until the end of September).

  • Compensation

    Vitruvian Farms has full and part time crew member position openings available for the 2024 season. Full time positions (40 hours per week) start at *$14.50/hour + a full CSA share (until the end of September). 

    Part time positions (range of 16-32 hours per week) also start at *$14.50/hour + a half CSA share (until the end of September). 

    *Rate is combination of hourly rate, tips and season completion bonus. Higher compensation negotiable for relevant previous farm experience and references. 

    Start & End Times

    Positions available for immediate hire. End times for seasonal work vary between late October and the beginning of November.

    Responsibilities

    Crew members will participate in local, sustainable agriculture through physical, hands on work on our farm.  Tasks include vegetable, mushroom and fruit management, greenhouse work, and orchard care.  We are searching for applicants who are willing to work indoors and outdoors as needed, work well with a team.

  • Compensation

    Vitruvian Farms is hiring a part time delivery driver for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays. Position starts at *$20/hour!

    *Rate is combination of hourly rate and tips.

    Start & End Times

    Position is open for immediate hire for shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays & Fridays.

    You will be driving both a refrigerated extended cab van and a refrigerated Isuzu box truck. CDL is NOT needed.

    Start time is 8:00am. End times vary depending on size of delivery but will be between 6-8hr shifts.

    Vitruvian Farms has part time farm store crew member positions open now.  Part time positions start at *$15.00/hour!

    Start & End Times

    Hiring for the end of August for Thursday and Friday positions. Start time is flexible but shift will include closing the farm store. End time will be approximately 6:30pm. Can be combined with weekday crew member hours as well.

    About the Position

    Farm store crew members will primarily work in our farm store. Tasks include: stocking, cashiering, customer service, and other general store tasks. Tasks may also include general tasks with our pack/fulfillment team.

  • Compensation

    Vitruvian Farms has a part time mushroom team crew member position opening for the 2024 season. Position is Mondays-Wednesdays and starts at *$14.50/hour + a half CSA share (until the end of September).

    Start & End Times

    Position starts end of May and can go through October or year round if desired.

    Responsibilities

    Mushroom team crew members will work in a small team to produce oyster, shiitake, lions mane, black kings, maitake and other specialty mushrooms. Production style is enriched sawdust block production. Mushroom operations are mostly indoors. Team members help with inoculation, block production, and harvesting.

Volunteer Share

Filled for the 2024 season (reach out in February for 2025)

Trade four hours per week of work on the farm for a full CSA share (18 weeks of vegetables). Here is what to expect:

  • The commitment is 4 hours of work per week

  • Volunteering starts 2 weeks before the first CSA box (around mid-May) and runs for 20 weeks

  • The total hours required over the course of the season is 72, any remaining hours at the end of the season would need to be paid for on a pro-rated basis of the CSA

  • Volunteer Shares help with weeding, packaging produce, washing, farm clean-up, packing CSA bins or whatever else needs to be done that week on the farm

Farming is hard work, so expect to work in all weather conditions doing dirty, repetitive jobs. Even though these are volunteer positions, we take the commitment you made very seriously and expect volunteers to make as many shifts as possible and communicate with us as early as possible if you need to miss a shift.

We are offering several 4 hour slots throughout the week.

  • Monday: 12pm-4pm

  • Tuesday: 8am-12pM

  • Wednesday: 8am-12pm

  • Thursday: 12pm-4pm

  • Friday: 8am-12pm OR 2pm-6pm

  • Saturday: 8am-12pm

  • Sunday: 8am-12pm

  • Sunday: 8am-12pm (Monona Farmers’ Market)
